An Integrative Review of Web 3.0 in Academic Libraries
Purpose – The aim of this paper is to present an integrated literature review exploring the nature of responsive, semantic and interactive Web 3.0 technologies applicable for academic libraries.
Design/methodology/approach – We conducted an integrated review of the literature combining a strategy of automated and keywords search. The main source for identifying the studies are Emerald Library Studies and Information & Knowledge Management eJournals, Web of Knowledge, and Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (EBSCO) databases. To this end, a sample of (n= 140) studies were analyzed to characterize the Web 3.0 trends and its applications based on theme, years and document types.
Findings – A review of literature reveals that Web 3. needs evaluation as to what extent they are integrated, deployed and mainstreamed into library services and in information management practices. It is important to develop a conceptual framework that explores the linkages of Web 3.0 technologies and their applications in academic libraries.
Originality/value –This review shows how Web 3.0 technologies enhance library services in its holistic conceptualization and how academic libraries are moving into a more robust, inclusive and adaptable phase in their service values and innovation

Web 2.0 use in academic libraries of top ranked Asian universities
Purpose
This paper aims to explore recent trends of how Web 2.0 applications were used in 75 academic libraries in Asia through their library websites.
Design/methodology/approach
The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2016 was considered for this study and out of 200 top universities ranked, 75 universities were selected for data collection. Using a multi-method approach, this study evaluated key design elements, library service platforms and website content of each academic library website, examining their site features, Web 2.0 types and applications. The criteria for selecting the websites were first the website was in English and second had Web 2.0 applications integrated into the main website. For the ranking of websites, a library web service index was developed, benchmarking from these groups – resource discovery tools, Web 2.0 applications, e-resources, mobile applications, library guides, digital reference services and digital inclusion – as indicators.
Findings
The authors found that over two-thirds of Asian university libraries have deployed one or more Web 2.0 applications, though their popularity and implementation vary greatly. Most widely used Web 2.0 applications are Facebook (61.3 per cent), RSS (53.3 per cent), Twitter (46.7 per cent) and YouTube (37.3 per cent). Instant messaging (5.3 per cent) and podcasting (4 per cent) were least applied. With an average of 44 per cent, the diffusion rate of Web information is moderately high among the majority of the Asian university libraries.

Many studies explored Web 2.0 applications from developed countries. However, this study attempts evaluating the use of Web 2.0 applications through content, sites and features of academic libraries in Asia, from developing countries perspective

Spin-phonon coupling suppressing the structural transition in perovskite-like oxide
Multifunctional properties in quantum systems require the interaction between
different degrees of freedom. As such, spin-phonon coupling emerges as an ideal
mechanism to tune multiferroicity, magnetism, and magnetoelectric response. In
this letter, we demonstrate and explain, based on theoretical and experimental
analyses, an unusual manifestation of spin-phonon coupling, i.e., prevention of
a ferroelastic structural transition, and locking of high-temperature R-3m
phase in a magnetically frustrated perovskite-like oxide Ba2NiTeO6. We present
Ba2NiTeO6 as a prototype example among its family where long-range
antiferromagnetic structure couples with a low-frequency Eg mode (at 55 cm-1)
that exhibits a large anharmonicity. Our findings establish that spin-phonon
coupling clearly suppresses the phonon anharmonicity preventing the structural
phase transition from the R-3m to the C2/m phase in Ba2NiTeO6

Not AvailableThis study was conducted to assess the impact of Foot-and-Mouth Disease
(FMD) outbreak in cattle and buffaloes on farming community in Kolar district,
Karnataka state, India. Primary data were collected using pre-tested schedule from
178 sample farms using multistage random cluster sample technique. The results
revealed that 78% of surveyed villages were affected with FMD. The FMD incidence
risk was high across the herd sizes, whereas the mortality risk was high in
small herds. In indigenous cattle, the highest loss due to FMD was distress sale
(208 USD) followed by other losses, whereas, in Crossbred cattle, the highest loss
was mortality loss (515 USD) followed by distress sale (490 USD), milk yield loss
(327 USD), treatment cost (38 USD) and extra labour engagement expenses for
nursing of FMD-affected bovines (30 USD). In local and upgraded buffaloes, the
mean total loss per affected animal was 440 USD and 513 USD, respectively. A
very high variability in the loss per animal was observed across the type of losses
in the Crossbred cattle, and it may be due to differences in age of the FMDinfected
animal, value of the animal, milking stage, lactation levels, herd sizes and
labour engagement levels, etc. In local and upgraded buffaloes, the mean total loss
per animal was 639 USD and 1008 USD, respectively. The sensitivity analysis for
5% change in price revealed that the mean total loss per animal was positively
correlated with price. Further, the social impact elicitation revealed that majority
of the livestock owners perceived FMD had caused permanent asset loss, which in
turn increased psychological stress of the family. The estimated losses and social
impact due to FMD signify the importance of the intervention to control the
disease and thus socio-economic gain to the farmer and society at large.Not Availabl
Quaternion Gravi-Electromagnetism
Defining the generalized charge, potential, current and generalized fields as
complex quantities where real and imaginary parts represent gravitation and
electromagnetism respectively, corresponding field equation, equation of motion
and other quantum equations are derived in manifestly covariant manner. It has
been shown that the field equations are invariant under Lorentz as well as
duality transformations. It has been shown that the quaternionic formulation

Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation in Patients With Primary Immune Regulatory Disorders (PIRD): A Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium (PIDTC) Survey.
Primary Immune Regulatory Disorders (PIRD) are an expanding group of diseases caused by gene defects in several different immune pathways, such as regulatory T cell function. Patients with PIRD develop clinical manifestations associated with diminished and exaggerated immune responses. Management of these patients is complicated; oftentimes immunosuppressive therapies are insufficient, and patients may require hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) for treatment. Analysis of HCT data in PIRD patients have previously focused on a single gene defect. This study surveyed transplanted patients with a phenotypic clinical picture consistent with PIRD treated in 33 Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium centers and European centers. Our data showed that PIRD patients often had immunodeficient and autoimmune features affecting multiple organ systems. Transplantation resulted in resolution of disease manifestations in more than half of the patients with an overall 5-years survival of 67%. This study, the first to encompass disorders across the PIRD spectrum, highlights the need for further research in PIRD management
Caspase-2-mediated cell death is required for deleting aneuploid cells
Caspase-2, one of the most evolutionarily conserved of the caspase family, has been implicated in maintenance of chromosomal stability and tumour suppression. Caspase-2 deficient (Casp2-/-) mice develop normally but show premature ageing-related traits and when challenged by certain stressors, succumb to enhanced tumour development and aneuploidy. To test how caspase-2 protects against chromosomal instability, we utilized an ex vivo system for aneuploidy where primary splenocytes from Casp2-/- mice were exposed to anti-mitotic drugs and followed up by live cell imaging. Our data show that caspase-2 is required for deleting mitotically aberrant cells. Acute silencing of caspase-2 in cultured human cells recapitulated these results. We further generated Casp2C320S mutant mice to demonstrate that caspase-2 catalytic activity is essential for its function in limiting aneuploidy.
